It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was out her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
